Objective

The FTC’s Office of Policy Planning required the hiring of temporary paralegals to support its review of public comments on the proposed Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) banning noncompete agreements. FTC required paralegals to classify and manage a high volume of submissions, assist attorneys, and contribute to preparation of the final rule, ensuring timely, accurate analysis to support informed rulemaking and uphold consumer protection standards.

Solution

SIG supports FTC operations by managing paralegal staffing, coordinating logistics, and overseeing equipment and communications. We submit resumes, provide replacements, and facilitate meetings with agendas and action logs. Our paralegals efficiently screen and code public comments, categorize issues, contribute to internal discussions, and draft summaries. SIG also delivers bi-weekly reports tracking hours against budget line items.

Impact

Our work streamlined the comment review process, improved data organization, and provided actionable summaries to support FTC decision-makers. This enabled more efficient policy evaluation, helping the agency progress toward timely, well-informed regulatory outcomes that reinforce its mission of promoting consumer protection and fair competition.
